The improvement works and application of the protective coating system were considered essential as the structures are classed as a highly corrosive, C5M environment, due to their seaside location.
To ensure health and safety standards were maintained, all Wardle Painters Ltd operatives received a site induction from Cardiff Harbour Authority to ensure safe working practices and site PPE requirements were complied with throughout. The site induction covered all emergency arrangements as well as muster points and access to the works was available via a fully fixed encapsulated scaffold, which was supplied by a specialist sub-contractor.
While all pedestrian and traffic management were handled by Wardle Painters Ltd and the Cardiff Harbour Authority, the roadway remained open throughout the contract, enabling pedestrians and traffic to utilise the bridges as normal.
